  • Hey readers! This year really has flown by and we are SO excited for our final book club meeting for this year! We will be discussing our final read, Malibu Rising by Taylor Jenkins Reid, on Thursday, May 21st in Ms Negele’s room 312 until 4:30. Be ready for a wild book discussion, fun summer planning and sad goodbyes. We can't wait to see you all on Thursday! ! :)

  • We have hot dogs on the lawn today for one dollar - also BAS is providing a special treat for Being A Senator so check in with them for a frozen sweet treat!

  • UIS is hosting its inaugural Flag Football 1 day camp.  Any girls interested should see Mr. Barnes in the main office for more information.

  • Students, this is a reminder that all signs, orange cones and pylons, and caution tape are there to keep everyone safe.  Please do not enter any areas, inside or outside of the building, or out on Monroe or Lewis Streets, that are blocked off.  Again, this is for your safety, as well as for the safety of the workers.

  • Exam exemption forms are available in the guidance and main offices. If you are eligible to exempt any exams, please make sure you pick up the grade level form, then get all signatures and then turn in the form in the guidance office by Thursday, May 21st at 3:30 p.m.

  • To any student who is involved in the Assassins game, this is a reminder that you may not have any activity on school grounds or during school times or anything related to the game during the school day. Please know we are concerned for your safety and need you to make good decisions. Please see Leardi or Adeniji with questions. 

  • Celebrate spring and your senior with a purchase of SHS's 25-26 yearbook and a senior ad at yearbookforever.com. Deadline to place ads is 5/20. 

  • Any student interested in being a member of the District 186 Show Choir should come to the main office to pick up a flyer and sign up for a time slot with Mr. Barnes.  Time slots for auditions will be available in the choir room at Lanphier High School on 1 of two dates:  5/29 between 6:00 - 8:00 pm or, 5/30 between 10:00 am - 1:00 PM

  • On Wednesday, Student Council will be selling fresh grilled hotdogs for $1 outside both lunch shifts. Cash only! BeASenator will also be giving out 4th quarter reward of a cold treat. 

  • Plant club will be having a plant sale on Wednesday after school until 3:30.  There will be houseplants for $5 and under, and garden herbs and vegetables for $1.  See Ms. Reinders in 516 with questions.

  • Crochet Club will hold its last meeting of they year this Friday, May 22nd in room 517 until 4:30. Yes, on FRIDAY, not our usual Thursday. There will be snacks!

  • The African American History Museum is looking for interested high school students who can work at the AAHM Camp this summer. Locations and jobs will be discussed upon interview. You can find the application link below

  • Volleyball workouts on Tuesday & Thursday this week. 3:30-5pm

  • FCA will have an end of the year meeting on Thursday night at 6:30 in Ms Smoot’s room! It will be potluck style so bring a dish to share! There will be worship and games as we end the year in faith centered community! Everyone is welcome! Bring a friend and come check it out!

  • Future Football Players! There will be a player/parent meeting on Thursday May 21st @ 6pm in the new commons for anyone interested in playing football next season. 

  • Anyone interested in playing volleyball next season, you can sign up & a pick up a summer schedule on Monday at lunch in the Commons.

  • Interested in joining the girls tennis team next year for the 2026-27 season?  Please plan to attend an introductory team meeting on Wednesday, May 20 at 2:30pm in the Commons. If you are unable to attend, please contact Coach Ingebrigtsen.

  • Any girl interested in joining the swimming and diving team in the fall, there will be a short meeting in Mrs. Myers room (WW4) on Friday at 3:30.  If you are not able to attend, please let Mrs. Myers know.

  • The soccer team defeated Jacksonville 7-0 in the regional semi-final. Kamryn Hoffman scored 4 goals while Ainsley Lambert, Meara Seelbach and Kalyn Burton each scored a goal. Bridget Lyons added 3 assists while Kamryn Hoffman, Addie Maddox and Phoebe Barnes had 1 assists. Lydia Auble and Morgan Leininger picked up the shut-out.

  • The baseball team lost a tough one last night as they went head to head with Jacksonville for 9 innings of a scoreless game before the Crimsons broke the ice in the top of the 10th and put 4 on the board for a 4 to nothing shutout win over the Senators. Jacob Scheffler threw an absolute gem on the mound going 8 innings without giving up a run while striking out 4, walking 2 and scattering 6 hits. The offense had their chances, but came up short against a well-pitched game by the J-ville hurlers. Next up for the Solons is a Senior Day matchup against the Rockets of Rochester tomorrow at 4:30 at Lincoln Land’s Claude Kracik Field.

  • The Springfield High School Boys Tennis Team played its last meet of the regular season yesterday against Taylorville High School.  In singles, Levi Anhalt, Will Eichinger, Mox Amin and Anshul Nagrecha won.  While in doubles, the teams of Anshul Nagrecha/Charlie Holzmacher, Eric Dong/Ben Perry, Aaryaa Prashanth/Ben Cliburn, Ethan Greenfield/Cael Miller, Pridhvi Mamillapalli/Arjun Bhandari, Tripp Robson/Adeyiwola Adenipebi, Kieran Green/Avett Shank, Jonah Lundeen/Xander Barrientos, Henry Hrabak/Gavin Cosenza-Stanley, Elijah Boyce/Cade Allen, Will Eichinger/Rutger Armbruster and Cael Miller/Sebastian Kurtz emerged victorious.  Great job by everyone who played!
